Ike Davis had a superb rookie season over at first base for the Mets – better than I or anyone else expected. Does it surprise me that he lost out on the Gold Glove Award?

Not at all – And it’s not because the winner’s last name is Pujols. Ike Davis plays first base for the Mets.

If Ike was on the Giants, he wins. If he’s on the Phillies, he wins.  I think you know where I’m going here.

It’s easy to give awards to players on good or great teams, especially players with hall of fame names. Who do you pick when you see those two names next to each other? Davis! (But everyone else picks Pujols)

In case your forgot, he made three sensational catches over at first base, pretty much giving up his body for the out. Those alone should have won him a gold glove easy! Instead, he will just be replayed on highlight reels for years to come and will have to be satisfied with the “Oooohs” and “Aaaahs” of Citi Field.

Here is Ike’s Catch Reel – Tell me what you think!
