I’ve pretty much given up on Mike Pelfrey. He had a cool run last season with the consecutive scoreless innings streak, but that was about it. He’s had a couple of gems this season, but inconsistency is not acceptable in a pitcher.

What happened to this kid Pelfrey everyone was talking about?

I’m pretty sure I speak for all Mets fans that we are all frustrated with Pelfrey and we’re all done waiting for him to get out of his head and just pitch the way we all thought he would. I was so excited after Saturday’s game thinking about how we may have a shot at taking the series, but then I was brought back down to Earth. I remembered Pelfrey was starting yesterday’s game and I wrote it up as a loss. Sure enough he proved me right.

I’ve always kept hope and tried to stick up for the guy whenever I had the chance, but I’ve got nothing left in the tank. We have nothing to look forward to with him and please don’t bring up his record from last year. We always talk about how Santana’s record should be better due to our lack of offense, but what about Pelfrey’s? Maybe he had too much offense to make up for his pitching?

I can sit here and talk until I’m blue in the face as to why he is the way he is, but it really is of no use. I just hope the Mets figure out something to do with pitching in general. It really is in shambles and I’ll listen to anything they’re selling at the end of the season because I don’t think it could get much worse.

Of course you could point out other rotations in MLB, but this is New York – we should be a dominant team period and we’re so far from that.
