This day is one of celebration. I will always honor the memory of Jackie Robinson in my home and let my children know how important of a human being he was. It wasn’t just about baseball, it was about showing the United States that we are all created equal and we should all treat each other as such.

There is an image of Jackie stealing home hanging up in my living room to remind that anything is possible in life if you just persevere. Believe in yourself and if you do fall on your journey, just get up, dust yourself off and continue. You will make it one day.

Thank you Mr. Robinson for having the courage, patience and will to not fight back against all those bigots back in 1947. You truly have made baseball, as well as the country, a better place.
