Ed Coleman checked in from Spring Training this weekend with Richard Neer of WFAN and had a few updates to share with us about our favorite team from Queens.
Wilmer Flores expressed wanting to play more for the Mets being he’s had a pretty good Spring Training, but is primarily a lefty killer. Even with the berating of Adam Wainwright on Friday, Terry Collins reiterated that Flores is a utility infielder and will be used as such along with pinch hitting. The current state of David Wright may give Flores the chance of playing everyday and his hope to gain 400 at-bats in 2017.
Speaking of David Wright, the Captain of the Mets is currently not going to be on the field come April 3rd, and there is no timeline for his return. With the injuries plaguing his career for the past two years, it makes you wonder if Wright will ever get back to being an everyday player.
Ed Coleman also checked in about Brandon Nimmo, Seth Lugo, and Steven Matz amongst others. Enjoy!
